'Ohana Run Club is a free, non-commercial app for planning runs with a small group of friends. It has no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no accounts of its own. We (the developer) can't see your club or anything in it.
A club is stored in the iCloud account of the person who started it, using Apple's CloudKit. It is shared only with the people that person invites. Nobody else can see it, including us. Apple's handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
Everyone in the club can see all of this.
The app never asks for your current location. Meeting spots are found with Apple Maps search. To show the forecast for a run, the app sends the meeting spot's coordinates and the run's date to Open-Meteo, a free weather service. Nothing that identifies you is sent with them.
If you choose to, the app reads your own workouts from Apple Health (read only) to draw the route you ran on a past run's map, with its distance and time. It asks first, and only when you tap Show my route. Your route stays on your phone: it isn't added to the club, sent to iCloud or to anyone else, and the app never writes to Apple Health. You can turn this off any time in the Health app under Sharing › Apps › ORC.
Reminders and change alerts are created on your phone, or delivered by Apple when someone in the club changes something. You can mute each kind of alert in the app, or turn them off in iOS Settings.
On the club owner's iPhone, the app saves a copy of the club's records once a day to that owner's own private iCloud storage, keeping the last 30 days, so the club can be recovered if something is deleted by mistake.
